Reduction of the pressure rating of fabricated fittings
Sponsored by the water companies, PDL undertook work during the latter part of 2003. The aim of the study was to investigate if there was a need for reducing the pressure taing of PE fabricated tees and branches. Although this work is not yet complete and PDL are seeking further funding, the draft report guidelines issued by PDL are as follows:
Tees and branches above ground should have a de-rating of 0.8
Tees and branches for use below ground require no de-rating
This work has now ceased due to the water companies withdrawing funding, however PDL are optimistic that an additional backer will be found and that this work will progress. In the meantime it is advised that the findings of the draft report are adopted as guidelines.
